Mary Catherine Mauzy, age 96 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice Care Corp.
She was born Wednesday, December 31, 1919 at Jenningston WV, a daughter of the late Michael “Mike” and Hattie Susan Vance Mauzy. She had never married.
Surviving are two brothers, Paul Stanley Mauzy, Sr. and Richard Phares Mauzy, both of Parsons; one nephew, Paul Mauzy, Jr. and wife Laura; one niece, Lisa Wilfong and husband David, all of Parsons; four great nephews, J.D. Armstrong of Morgantown, Dustin Mauzy of Reedsville, Brad Stevens of Parsons and Tyler Mauzy of Thomas; one great niece, Melissa Sexton of Parsons; and eight great-great nephews and nieces, Anthony and Jacob Gwynn, Rylan and Keaton Sexton, Braden and Elaina Armstrong and one on the way, Wesley and Leanna Mauzy; and one great great great nephew Liam Gwynn. Preceding her in death are one brother, John Carl Mauzy; one sister, Virginia Alice Mauzy; and one nephew, Michael Mauzy.
She attended the schools of Cass WV. Had worked at the Victoria Theater of Parsons and her hobbies included jigsaw puzzles.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday September 9, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Saturday September 10, 2016 at 1 p.m. The Pastor Allen D. Crosten officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mary Catherine Mauzy.
