Mary Lucille Hedrick Rhoades Wratchford, age 89 years, a resident of Hambleton, WV, departed this life Monday evening, November 16, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of hospice Care Corporation.
She was born Saturday, February 27, 1926 at Hazelwood, WV, Randolph Co., a daughter of the late Albert Lee and Provy Hester White Hedrick. On February 22, 1947, she was married to Noah Lee Rhoades, Sr., who preceded her in death February 29, 2000. They had celebrated fifty three years of marriage.
Surviving are one son, Noah Lee “Mucker” Rhoades and wife Carol Ann of Baltimore, MD; one daughter, Merry Carol Null of Hambleton; two grandchildren, Travis Lee Rhoades and Carol Louise Reel; five great grandchildren, Ashley Walker, Mark Reel, Jammie Lee Reel, Sonja Marie Rhoades and Leah Elizabeth Rhoades; and five great great grandchildren.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one brother, Casper Hedrick; and one sister, Cynthia Catherine Hedrick White.
She attended the Hamrick School. She was a homemaker, a noted cook and a member of the Hambleton United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxillary Post #6454 of Petersburg, WV.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Sue Metzner officiated and interment followed at the Goff Cemetery at Hambleton, WV.
