Miles Craig “Koch” Kochenderfer, Jr. age 76, a former resident of Parsons, WV and Rupert, WV and more recently of Pelham, Alabama departed this life Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the University of Alabama Hospital. He was born Monday, November 20, 1939, at Hendricks, WV. He was the son of the late Miles Craig Kochenderfer, Sr. and Martha Olive Bayles Kochenderfer. He was twice married, first to Kathy Kochenderfer for 45 years who preceded him in death during 2014. Second to Thelma Williams Kochenderfer who survives at Alabama.
Also surviving are two children, Marti Kochenderfer and husband Joe of Wheeling, WV and Becky Banton and husband Mark of Mechanicsville, VA; two stepdaughters, Judy Harner Carpenter and Tammy Harner Davidson of AL; one brother, Jim Kochenderfer and wife Hilda of Parsons; two sisters, Margaret Anne Terranto of PA and Christina Minard of TN; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Macie and Emma Banton; five step grandchildren, Elizabeth Fusco, Tony Fusco, Dale Carpenter, Scott Carpenter, and Chad Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1958. He served in the United States Army and was a graduate of West Virginia State College. He was a dedicated West Virginia State Policeman, having received numerous awards and retiring as Captain, following twenty six loyal years of service. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and trapping, loved telling stories, in particular the ones of his childhood growing up in Hendricks. He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed spending time with his family and loved them dearly. Some of his greatest joys where with his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from noon to 1 p.m. A Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Carl Sherman will officiate and inurnment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows, where the WV National Guard Honor Guard Program, the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29, American Legion, the Tygart’s Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Tucker County Veterans Association will present full military honors. .
