Norma Collett Stanton (PHS-Class of ’51) recently passed away quietly at the age of 84 in a Hospice care facility in her adopted and beloved town, Morristown, NJ where she lived for 62 years. Norma was born in Hambleton, WV as the first child of Warren Kermit (Chum) and Helen Howell Collett on September 10, 1935.
Following her high school graduation Norma enrolled in Alderson Broaddus College’s five year school of Nursing. She graduated in 1956 with distinction (Magna Cum Laude). As part of her curriculum she spent one year at a state mental health hospital in Newark, NJ where she met her soul-mate husband-to-be, Johnny Stanton. Following their marriage they moved to Morristown where she practiced hospital nursing until she became a public health nurse for Morristown, a position she held for 31 years. Johnny joined the police department. They both retired from the town at their respective dates of eligibility.
She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny and daughter Ann.
She is survived by her brother Keith (K. D.) Collett (PHS-Class of ’53),
four children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was interred by her husband at the Holly Road Cemetery in
Morristownship, NJ.
