Olyn Meryl Teter, 94, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at his home.
Born December 8, 1920, In Dry Fork, WV, Mr. Teter was the son of the late Edward Teter and Flossie (Wolford) Teter. He was also preceded in death by his wives: Elsie Lee (Cooper) Teter; Helen Rank Teter; and Lorraine Sandie Teter; four brothers; three sisters; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A United States Naval Veteran of World War II serving with the Sea Bees in the South Pacific, Olyn was a farmer in Canaan Valley, WV. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local #1024, Cumberland, MD.
Olyn is survived by his son: Frederick “Bill” William Teter and wife, Anita, Cumberland, MD; his grandsons: Frank Teter and wife, Rose, Louisville, TN; and William Teter and wife, Sarah, Cumberland, MD; his great grandchildren: Aleena, Aralynn, and Alex; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service was conducted at the Buena Chapel, Canaan Valley, WV, on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 1 p.m.
