Paula Fay Flanagan Currance, age 83 years, a resident of The Red Run Community, Hendricks, WV, departed this life Friday, September 16, 2016 at her home. Death was sudden and unexpected.
She was born Friday, September 30, 1932 at Hendricks, WV, a daughter of the late Paul and Leecy Fay Rennix Flanagan. Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Phillips Gower and husband Mike of Buckhannon, one brother, Dennis Paul Flanagan and wife Kay of Hendricks; two sisters, Sue Ann Silk and husband Terry of Hendricks and Nora Riggleman and husband Sherwood of Charleston; two granddaughters, Jade Orr Knick of Lexington, VA, and Hiedi Orr and husband Steve of Stanleytown, VA; four great grandchildren, Will and Harper Knick, Tyler Cooper and Madeline Cooley; two great great grandchildren, Piercen and Tatum Knick.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Harper Rennix Flanagan and James Lester “Jim” Flanagan.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1950. She worked in Medical Administration in a Doctor’s Office for over twenty years. She was Regent of the Blackwater Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the Parsons High School Alumni Association and treasurer of the Tucker Ambulance Authority. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church. Paula Fay was passionate about her flower garden, her cats and feeding the birds and wildlife.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 1 until 3 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 3 PM. The Rev. William R. Brown will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Parsons, WV, the Tucker Co. Ambulance Authority or a charity of your choice.
