Ralph J. Poling, 87, of Chesterfield VA, passed away Jan. 30, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Ellen Brown; father, Guy Poling; brother, Denzil Poling; sisters, Ida Keener and Jacqulene Pugh; all uncles and aunts. He is survived by his wife M. Louise Hicks Poling; sons, Jay Poling (Tracy) and Robert Poling (Sophia); sister, Patricia Broadwater of Shaw, WV; grandsons, Walker Poling, Noah Poling, Alex Poling., Benjamin Poling, Landon Poling and Nicholas and Nathan (Hannah) Yancey; granddaughters, Abigail Poling, Natalie Yancey. He is also survived by nephews, Peter Poling of Fla., Ronald Broadwater and Michael Pugh of WV., Kevin Mitchell of Charlotte, NC and Justin Mitchell of Bluefield, WV; sisters-in-law, Margaret Mitchell (Glenn) and Barbara Brett (Richard) of Princeton, WV. Ralph served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. After retiring as CEO of Data Card Addressograph, he started a successful garden center at Smith Mountain Lake, Va. He was an avid reader, fisherman and friend to all he encountered. He had a deep faith in God. Ralph was a volunteer in many community endeavors. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Suncrest Hospice, www.suncrestcare.com and/or the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
