Ray D. Wotring, 87, a native of Parsons and more recently Buckhannon, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the home of his daughter surrounded by his loving family and under the care of West Virginia Hospice.

Ray was born Friday, July 7, 1933 at Location in Tucker County, a son of the late Renzie and Delcie Wotring.  On December 22, 1954, he was married to Patty Ann Ashby Wotring who preceded in death on April 18, 2017. They had celebrated sixty-two and a half years of marriage.

Others left to cherish Ray’s memory are his three children, Kathy and husband, Alton, Steven Ray Wotring, and Jonathan Matthew Wotring and wife, Mindy, of Hambleton, one brother, Bobby Wotring and wife, Delores, six grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.

Preceding Ray in death besides his wife and parents were three sisters, Virginia, Olive, and Gertrude.

Ray attended the schools of Tucker County and had served with the U.S. Air Force.  He had many jobs and enjoyed working at Patriot Mining.  After retiring, he enjoyed driving for Performance Motors.  He was a life-long Christian who enjoyed reading and studying the Bible.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, and he loved his dog Frito.

Ray’s request for cremation will be honored.  On Sunday, August 23, 2020, at 1 p.m., Kevin Henry will officiate a Memorial Service at the Hendricks Pavilion in Hendricks.  A catered Celebration of Life will continue until 3 p.m.  The family has asked for memorial contributions to be made to West Virginia Hospice, 8 Hartman Plaza, Buckhannnon, WV 26201-2230.  The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Ray D. Wotring.  Send online condolences to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com
