Robert “Bob” Lee Myers

Robert “Bob” Lee Myers, 82, a resident of Parsons passed from this life Thursday, October 4, 2018, at his residence.  He had been in declining health and death was unexpected.


Robert was born Saturday, November 9, 1935 in St. George, a son of the late Gordon Dayton Myers and Ethel Nestor Myers.

Also left to cherish Robert’s memory are six brothers, Junior D. Myers of Beverly, Donald B. Myers of Monroe Falls, OH, Morris G. Myers of Napoleon, OH, Allen D. Myers of Parsons, Richard P. Myers of Thomas, and Boyd Myers of Parsons, two sisters, Madeline F. Weaver of Winston-Salem, NC, Kathleen A. Hovan of Altoona, PA., and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bob in death besides his parents was two brothers, Charles E. Myers and Ralph Myers.

Bob attended the schools of Tucker County and had previously worked for Hinchcliff Lumber, Parsons Footwear and the Forest Service.  For 25 years, he was a dedicated care giver to his parents until their passing.   Robert’s greatest interest in life was his love of music and crafting several musical instruments.  He was a self-taught musician on all facets of stringed instruments including violin, banjo and guitar.   Robert hand-crafted several pieces including a beautiful violin and banjo.  He played in several local bands and once performed with Robert Byrd at the Hick Fair in Tucker County.  He had attended the Sycamore Grove Church.

Visitation will be held at Hostetler Funeral Home in Parsons on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour.  Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate, and interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.  The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Robert Lee Myers.  Send online condolences to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com
