Robert Lee “Hopsing” King

Robert Lee “Hopsing” King, age 61 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life early Monday morning, April 3, 2017 at his home.  He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.


He was born Sunday, September 18, 1955 at Preston County, a son of the late James Robert and Lena Gertrude Pitzer King.  He had never married.
Surviving are one brother, Franklin Steven King of Parsons; one niece, Roberta Mae “Cookie” Mason and husband Steve; one brother-in-law, Clarence Robert “Bob” Mason of Parsons; and his many friends.

Preceding him in death are two brothers, James Russell King and Steven Franklin King; and one sister, Kathryn Gertrude” Katie” King Mason.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1974.  He was a Veteran of the United States Marines.  He was an employee of the former Parsons Shoe Plant.  He enjoyed music and writing songs and poems.  “Hopsing” had a kind heart and was always doing something for everyone. 

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.  Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, April 6, 2016 at 11 a.m.  Rev. Pat Cassidy officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery, WV.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Robert Lee “Hopsing” King.
