Ronald Lewis “Ron” Johnston, age 70 years, a resident of Montrose, WV departed this life early Tuesday morning, October 13, 2020 at the Monongalia General Hospital at Morgantown, WV. He had been in declining health although death was unexpected.
He was born Thursday, June 15, 1950 at Harman, WV, a son of the late Willard S. Johnston and Evangeline Mae White Johnston. On May 22, 1971 at Pifer Mountain, St. George, WV, he was married to the former Kathy Hedrick Johnston, who survives. They had celebrated forty-nine years of marriage.
Also surviving are one daughter, Amy Michelle Shahan of Montrose; one son, Bryan O’Neil Johnston and wife Mandy of Beverly; four brothers, Richard Johnston and wife Ruth of Florida, David Johnston of Hambleton, Keith Johnston and wife Terry of Elkins, and Karl Johnston and wife Paula of Montrose; one sister, Deborah L. Hedrick and husband Rick of Montrose; one grandson, Jayson Blaha of Montrose; several nieces and nephews; and his little dog Allie and his cat Garn.
Preceding him in death is one infant daughter, Melissa Carol.
He attended the schools at Montrose and Elkins, WV. He worked in the woods for Roscoe Nestor, the Harrison County Power Plant as a concrete finisher, the McLaughlin Machinery, and he worked for the Kingsford Charcoal Plant, where he retired during 2005. He enjoyed tinkering and fabricating, farming, and raising cattle. He loved hunting and being in the outdoors and especially spending time with his grandson.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Kevin Gainer officiated and interment followed at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Ronald Lewis Johnston.
