Roy Lee Hart, age 83 years, a resident of Hambleton, WV, departed this life Friday evening, July 18, 2025, at the Hospice Care Inpatient Center at Elkins, WV, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Monday, September 22, 1941, at home in Smith County, Konnarock, VA, a son of the late Hershel Monroe and Baney Emaline Hayes Hart. On May 24, 1963, at Baltimore, MD, he was married to Sandra Sue Phillips Hart, who preceded him in death, March 23, 2015. They celebrated fifty-two years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Carr and Donna Cross and husband Kevin, all of Parsons; two granddaughters, Candy Cross of Macon, GA and Lacey Walker and husband Logan of Keyser, WV; two brothers, Jay Hart and wife Judy of Princeton, WV, and Roger Hart and wife Janet, Lostine, Oregon; one sister, Eva Hagermam and husband Leonard of Skygusty, WV; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are five brothers, Stayle, Ronnie, Donald, June and Tonnie Hart; and three sisters, Gail Phillips, Delphia Bright and Betty Jean Hart.

He attended the schools of Virginia. He was a former employee at the box factory in Baltimore, MD, Kingsford Charcoal Co., and Island Creek Console Coal Company, which he retired with twenty-five years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers Association, District 31.

Roy enjoyed woodworking, making knives, playing the guitar, pitching horseshoes, playing cards, and watching westerns. He liked doing things for himself, like building their home, fixing his vehicles and being there to help others. He loved cooking for his granddaughters and trying new recipes and spending time with his family. He was loved by many and will be missed.

Cremation was honored. A graveside service will be held at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 11 AM. Pastor Donna Bolinger and Pastor Jay Hart will officiate and inurnment will follow. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements for Roy Lee Hart.
