Russell Prentice Hebb age 89 years, a former resident of Elyria, OH, a native of Tucker County and more recently a resident of Cortland Acres, departed this life Wednesday morning, October 3, 2018 at Courtland Acres Rehabilitation Center at Thomas, WV. He had been in declining health.
He was born Monday, August 19, 1929 at Pierce, WV, a son of the late Russell Willis and Ora Marie Nazelrod Hebb. On December 28, 1951 at Maryland, he was married to the former Romona Jane “Lucille” Hardy, who preceded him in death July 13, 2006. They had celebrated fifty-four years of marriage.
Surviving are one son, Larry Glenn Hebb and wife Beverly of Philippi; six grandchildren, Nicole Hebb-Burner and husband Josh, Dustin Hebb and wife Sarah, Jeremy Crowthers, Michael Metz and Cassie, Lindsey Mick and husband Bryan and Clint Newman and wife Sally; five great grandchildren, Carter, Carson, Carly Hebb and Jessa and Ella Hebb-Burner; one special nephew, Dave Watring and wife Loletta; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are two sons, Prentice Leroy Hebb, January 8, 1996 and Donny Gene Hebb, June 3, 1977; one brother, Donald Hebb; and two sisters, Mary Whetzel and an infant.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a former employee and retired from the National Tube Co., (U.S. Steel), where he was a Crane Operator. He enjoyed gardening, made furniture and collected antiques.
The family will received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Sam Haught officiated and interment followed at the Parsons Family Cemetery at Shavers Fork. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home wAs in charge of the arrangements for Russell Prentice Hebb.
