Ruth Irene Lambert Poling

Ruth Irene Lambert Poling, age 77 years, a resident of the Blackman Flats Community, Hambleton, WV, departed this life early Saturday morning, October 18, 2014 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV, surrounded by her loving family. She had been in declining health.

mugruthpolingShe was born Monday, August 9, 1937 at Elkins, WV, a daughter of the late Isom Fred and Pearl Kisamore Lambert. On March 2, 1957 at Red House, MD, she was married to Okey Ray Poling, who preceded her in death April 26, 2006.

Surviving are three sons, Gary Ray Poling, Ricky Lynn Poling and Donald Allen Poling, all of Parsons; two daughters, Pamela Ann Johnson and husband Buck of Charleston and Wilma Lee Poling of Parsons; one brother, Junior Lambert of Elkins; one sister, Shirley Lambert of Elkins; eight grandchildren, Julie, Lisa, Ashley, Buck, Heather, Donnie, Tiffany and Kristi; and four great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are one daughter, Patricia Ruth Phillips and husband Philip Wayne Phillips; one brother, Harl E. Lambert; and two sisters, Ethel Simmons and Icie Lambert.

She attended the one room school at Bowden. She was an employee of the former Tucker County Hospital and the former Parsons Footwear. She along with her husband owned and operated “The Fisherman” thrift store on Main Street in Parsons, which all proceeds benefited those in need. Ruth was a housekeeper for various families of Parsons. She was a member of the Sycamore Grove Church at Bull Run and she enjoyed gospel music, flowers, gardening, yard work and canning. She devoted her life to her family.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. The Reverend James Snyder will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Ruth Irene Lambert Poling. Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
