Sara Lea (Black) Carr, 90, of 1726 Cheat Valley Highway, God gained an Angel on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in the compassionate care of WV Caring Hospice in Elkins, West Virginia. Though she had been in declining health, her passing was unexpected.

Born on March 25, 1935, in Rainelle, West Virginia, Sara was the daughter of the late Otis Edward Black and Tacy Katherine Wratchford Black. She spent many years serving her community, working at Footware and later at Citizens Bank, where she dedicated 20 years before retiring. Blessed with a beautiful voice, Sara shared her gift of music with countless churches and community events, touching hearts wherever she sang.

Sara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Don Carr, whom she married on August 22, 1954. She was also preceded in death by their son, Danny Carr; daughters Katherine and Karen; and her brother, Jerry Black, of Rainelle.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Vickie Nestor; grandson Chris (Heather); and great-granddaughters Prestlea and Lakelynn, all of Morgantown, West Virginia. She is also survived by granddaughter Alicia Cale (Wes); great-grandson Silas; and great-granddaughter Rosalea, all of South Dakota. In addition, Sara leaves behind two special nieces, Cheryl Ball and Teresa Black, both of Rainelle; and five sisters-in-law, Patsy Lambert, Marie McDaniel, Donna Arnold, Pearl Fields and Mary Ann Etzel.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to WV Caring Hospice for their kindness and care

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, WV on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 PM. The Reverend Todd Rhodes officiated and interment followed at the Brights Chapel Cemetery at Dry Fork, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements for Sara Lea Black Carr. We encourage our communities to support one another through leaving memories and condolences at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home website. www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
