Sarah Jane Bennett passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. A resident of the Flanagan Hill Community, she had been in declining health.
She was born on August 18, 1936, at Red Creek in Tucker County a daughter of the late Freddie Ellen Bonner Bennett and Roy Helmick Bennett. Maternal grandparents are the late Martin VanBuren and Elisa Jane George Bonner; and, paternal grandparents are the late Clay and Carrie Bennett. She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace B. (Seymour) Thompson and a brother, Charles R. Bennett. She is survived by two children, Becky O’Bryhim Owens and Donna O’Bryhim Nunan. Also, surviving are ten nieces and nephews, Thomas M., S. Daniel, and Marilyn C. Thompson, Victoria Thompson Mullennex, Patricia Thompson Cunningham (John), Shirley A. Plum, Cindy, Charles Jr., Ginger, and Hoyle Bennett. She has three grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews.
Sarah graduated from Davis High School, Davis, WV. For many years she was employed as an administrative assistant for Tax Executives in Washington, D.C. and SAIC near Herndon, VA, prior to her retirement to the Justahilly Farm near Flanagan Hill. She enjoyed entertaining and visiting with folks on the farm as well as watching the livestock and wildlife roam. She had a special love for her horses and loved watching them graze and gallop on her farm. She was a Methodist by faith. She was a member of the Farm Bureau receiving the Century Farm Award.
Friends were received Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 4-7:30 p.m. at the Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, WV. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Neil Parsons officiating. Interment followed at the Flanagan Hill Cemetery.
