Steven H. Cooper, Sr., 71, of Dryfork, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 26, 2021 doing what he loved, farming (on the farm that he dearly loved). Born in Harman on June 27, 1949, he was the son of the late Fred and Lectie Cooper. Steve was a graduate of Harman High School and was a member of the Dryfork Assembly of God Church. He retired from the ski industry several years ago to be a full-time farmer.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Joy Bennett and Eleanor Bennett, one brother, Dick Cooper, one infant grandchild, Jackson Porter Simmons, and his brothers-in-law, Joe and Quentin Bennett.
Surviving is his wife of 46 years, Ruth Ann Cosner Cooper, a daughter Stephanie Cooper Simmons (Jeremy) of Moorefield, a son, Steven H. Cooper, Jr. (Meghan) of Buckhannon, four grandchildren, Alyson, Grace, Thomas Simmons, and Logan Cooper, a sister Doris “Susie” Pigott (Bob) of Ohio, several nieces and nephews and many friends, as Steve never met a stranger.
In addition to being a loving husband and father, Steve loved the title of “Granddad”. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He spent countless hours with them fishing, hunting, playing games (like Checkers, Dominos and teaching them to Hula Hoop), attending sporting events, taking them to the little store for candy, telling stories, and offering advice. He loved each of them very much and unconditionally.
