Velma Lorena Moreland Hebb

Velma Lorena Moreland Hebb, 89, a resident of the Location Community of St. George, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.  She had been in declining health for some time.

Velma was born on Thursday, January 31, 1935, in Preston County, a daughter of the late Walter Moreland and Plesy Bohon Moreland.  In Oakland, MD, on May 1, 1954, she married Robert Carrington Hebb who preceded her in death on March 2, 2022.  They had celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage.

Left to cherish her memory are three children, Robin and husband, Rob, of Brevard, NC, Crystal and husband, Greg, and David and wife, Jennifer, all of Parsons. four sisters, Betty Knicley, Etta Hershman, Ruby Knotts, and Dolly Sigley, three brothers, Thomas Moreland, Earl Moreland, and John Moreland.  She was also blessed with nine grandchildren, 30+ great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Preceding Velma in death besides her parents and husband was a grandchild, Hunter, 

Velma attended the schools of Tucker County and was a full-time homemaker and devoted mother until her children had grown.  She then went to work at Tucker County High School as a cook for twenty-two years.  She was a member of the Good Tidings Assembly of God Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for more than thirty years.  Velma loved attending and singing in church.  She enjoyed shopping, cooking, and traveling.  

The family will receive friends at the Good Tidings Assembly of God Church on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 11:30am to 12:30pm, the funeral hour.  Rev. Robert Hebb and Rev. Carroll Harvey will officiate, and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery near St. George.  The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Velma Lorena Moreland Hebb.  Send online condolences to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com.
