Virginia Marguerite Bonner Raines Sheets

Virginia Marguerite Bonner Raines Sheets, age 98 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life peacefully Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Davis Medical Center at Elkins, WV, with daughters and a niece at her side.

She was born Wednesday, October 7, 1917 at the Elk Community, Dry Fork, WV, a daughter of the late Casper U. Bonner and Margie Mae Hinkle Bonner. She was twice married. First in July of 1932, to Robert Lee Raines, who preceded her in death, February 19, 1964, and second on December 30, 1975 at Parsons, WV, to William Harold Sheets, who preceded her in death October 4, 2015.

Surviving are one son, Robert Keith Raines of Redding, CA; one daughter, Marsha Raines Lipscomb and husband Richard “Dick”, of Greensboro, NC; one step daughter, Susan Elaine Currey and husband Randy of Rivesville, WV; one daughter-in-law, Gean Sheets of Greenwood, SC; one brother, Kermit Bonner and wife Ruth of Red Creek, WV; two sisters, Irene Brown and Reva Emerson, both of Sterling, VA; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Lee and Sandra Jean Barr; one stepson, Stephen Larry Sheets,a daughter-in-law Margaret H. Raines; two brothers, Warren Everett Bonner and Darwin Ashby Bonner; and two sisters, Winifred Parsons and Helena Bonner.

She attended the one room school at Mill Run and Parsons High School. She was a former employee of Jim Propst Store and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lady’s Aid Society with the EUB Church and attended St. Johns United Methodist Church at Parsons, WV. She enjoyed her flower gardening, doing crossword puzzles and bowling in leagues and tournaments with her loving husband. She was loved and cherished by family and friends.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. The Reverend Phil Dent will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Virginia Marguerite Bonner Raines Sheets. Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
