William Phelps

William Branson Phelps, 82, of Thomas, WV passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on July 16, 2016 at Cortland Acres. He was born May 26, 1934 in Thomas, WV a son of the late Herman Herbert and Dorthea Evangeline Mosser Phelps, and stepmother, Thelma Phelps. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Phelps, and one sister, Glenoma Roth.
He is survived by five daughters, Melody (Rick) Kavooras, Deborah Johnson, Bilyn (Jeff Geyer Sr.) Bozic, Suan Bean, Caryn (Earnest) Williams, three sisters, Carolyn (Ron) Lambert, Judith (Frank) Lambert, and Ruth (Jack) Myers, 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and longtime companion, Jo Adamy.
Mr. Phelps retired from Goodyear Aerospace in 1979, he then pursued his preferred profession, starting his own business, Phelps Graphics. He was an EMT and served on the Tucker County Ambulance Authority Board, he was a member of the Free Masons and past Lion’s Club President. He drove the Senior Center Transportation Van and was known for his wonderful artistic talent.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 20, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, July 21, at Hinkle Funeral Home with Rev. John Callaway and Neil Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to William B Phelps, Hinkle Funeral Trust, c/o Grant County Bank. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
