This is a photo of Stephen Harvey Murphy and Thomas Bright. Harvey was married to Orpha Ann Bright. Orpha was a daughter of Thomas Wesley and Martha Alice Cooper Bright. Thomas and Martha Alice were married by Asa Harman at the home of Jesse Harman. They lived in Randolph and Tucker Counties only. Thomas went to Kansas in 1886 to seek his fortune and he left his family at home. While he was gone, his mother passed away from heart problems and Martha had to sell her geese to pay his train fare to get him back home. Thomas was in and out of the timber business with very little success. Harvey and Orpha had the following children: Boyd, Carl, Murl, Troy, Roy Murphy.
