Dear editor,
While reading the article on the opening of the Republican Headquarters in last week’s paper, I was shocked and saddened to see that the photo depicting many candidates running for office exhibited little social distancing and only one person wearing a mask. Science has shown us repeatedly that these two tactics can dramatically reduce the number of Covid cases. As our county’s number of positive cases continues to rise, I would hope that all citizens would heed the call to wear a mask in public, especially when not socially distancing. It is extremely important for our elected officials and those running for office to set an example for the rest of the county. Wearing a mask helps prevent the wearer from spreading germs if infected, even before symptoms arise. I want to feel safe in our county. Please, everyone, wear a mask while in public areas, especially in our stores and public gathering spaces.
Thank you.
