The New Year is being heralded in with a nip in the air. Not the January we around here are used to but I will take it. Gran always said if the ice is dripping on New Years Day, it will be an early spring. Momma Said, “I don’t know what happens if there isn’t any ice, that usually doesn’t happen.”
We have flowers blooming beside the office and a neighbor has celery in his garden that has grown six inches. This is not what is usually happening on New Years in West Virginia. Momma Said, “I want to send prayers out to all who were hit with the Christmas tornados and the flooding in the Midwest.”
Our weather has taken such a drastic turn that it kind of frightens me. Alaska is too warm, California too dry, Texas too wet and tornados in December. It is just crazy and not at all the norm. The Mississippi usually floods in the spring not the first of winter. Momma Said, “Maybe SOMEONE is trying to tell us something and I think we should start listening.”
I hope this coming year is very prosperous for everyone and if you have stated your resolutions, I hope you can start them and see them through. Me, I never make one because I try very hard to be a good person and help people when I can. Momma Said, “I always seem to end up on the short end of the stick, but at least I try.”
Mississippi Roast
By far the best recipe I have tried. I won’t make a roast any other way now. Put chuck roast in crock pot, Sprinkle with Hidden Valley ranch dressing, add McCormick Au Jus mix, a stick of butter, 5 pepperoncini peppers. DO NOT ADD WATER. Cook on low for 7-8 hrs
