I think we are going to start out the New Year scraping the bottom of the barrel. I heard the week before Christmas that Michael Vick, former NFL star quarterback and FELON will be the new head coach for Norfolk State. Vick was arrested in 2007 for running a dog fighting ring, his career ended and he spent 21 months in a federal prison.
He owned “Bad Newz Kennels” where dogs were bred, trained and forced to participate in violent fights that resulted in severe injury and death. Dogs were often executed for underperformance. Now he is going to be working with and training the future leaders coming out of Norfolk State. Momma Said, “That is like having a child molester running a day care.” This is my opinion and if I offend anyone by voicing this I am sorry.
I believe in giving people a second chance but I don’t think this is appropriate and sends the wrong signals to our young people. He is probably going to get a very substantial salary and now these kids can form the opinion that it is alright to break the law and then come back and make millions.
Maybe he should have written a book apologizing to people for being so cruel and not protecting God’s creatures. But he chose to brutalize these dogs that he raised from mere puppies to be cruel enough to kill each other. Maybe instead of putting him in the spotlight for being a head coach he should be put into the ring with other cruel people and let them go at it and see how he likes it. Momma Said, “We should have no empathy for people who are cruel to animals for profit.”
Basil Strawberry and Cream Cheese Appetizer
¼ cup fresh basil shredded
1 ½ cups fresh or frozen strawberries
1 tbsp. Balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp. sugar
1 8 oz. package Cream Cheese
Instructions
Put the strawberries, sugar and balsamic vinegar in a medium bowl.
If using frozen strawberries allow them to thaw and then mash ingredients together.
Tip: You want the sauce to be a little chunky so don’t completely mash all the strawberries.
Remove the cream cheese from the package and place on a serving plate.
Slowly spoon the strawberry sauce over the cheese and top with shredded basil.
Serve with your favorite crackers or pita chips. Store any leftovers in refrigerator.
Make ahead and let the ingredients mesh together. The fresh basil will instill the vinegar and make everything more flavorful.
