Stopped in Walmart on my way to work this morning and I have been mad ever since. I just needed two things and I got those, on my way from the back of the store I spotted some nectarines in the produce isle.
I like them better than peaches and they seem to last longer before spoilage sets in. I was going to pick out a few and started looking for the produce bags to put them in. All the dispensers were empty and an associate was filling the bins, I asked him if there were any bags and his response was, “We’re out” that was it no sorry nor did he make any attempt to find something for me to put the produce in.
Well let me tell you, Mom jumped out of me like a cobra out of a basket. I caught myself before I laid into him and walked away without my produce. I was so mad by the time I got to the checkout that I am sure steam was coming out of my ears. Of course at that time of day no managers in sight so I told the checkout guy what had happened and asked him to tell the managers when they came in.
He was a very polite, nice man and said he would. Not having any bags in the produce isle is like serving iced tea without the ice. The least they could have done was go to the checkouts and get some bags from there to put the loose produce in. Momma Said, “It is called improvising PEOPLE!!” I feel sorry for future generations that will grow up not having the incentive to make do with what you have. IMPROVISE, ADAPT, OVERCOME.
Orange Fluff Salad Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 3 oz. box orange jello mix
- 1 cup boiling water
- ½ cup cold water
- 1 3.4 oz. box instant vanilla pudding
- 8 oz. cool whip
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- 2 15 oz. cans mandarin oranges, drained very well
- 1 20 oz. can crushed pineapple, drained very well
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl combine the orange jello mix and boiling water, whisk until dissolved. Pour in the cold water, whisk to combine. Place the bowl in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- Remove the bowl from the fridge and whisk in the instant vanilla pudding, scraping down the sides to incorporate everything. Return the bowl to the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- Remove the bowl from the fridge and fold in the cool whip.
- Add in the mini marshmallows, well drained mandarin oranges, and well drained crushed pineapple. Fold gently to combine.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours before serving. This allows the mixture to thicken and for the marshmallows to soften.
