It is hard to believe that it has been 15 years since the 9-11 attack. I have been watching the specials that have been on TV and it still makes me cry. I remember my sister called and told me to turn on the TV and it was right after the first plane hit the tower. Not long after, I saw the second plane hit and I was devastated. It seemed so surreal at the time and still today I get chills when I think about it.
That was not bad enough but I remember watching the first tower go down. Thinking of all those people and nothing could be done. Just watching the documentaries and listening to the people who were there makes me sad for what they went through. Momma Said, “At the time, we may have been down, but we were never out.” We were strong as a nation and we came back stronger for it.
And now we have the NFL players who do not want to stand for the National Anthem. I look at them and see a bunch of overpayed people who take freedom for granted. They have the privilege to go out every week and play a GAME. It is just that, a game, not a job to better humanity. As far as I am concerned they are taking freedom for granted. There are people working and fighting every day so these players can basically stomp on the very fabric that holds this great country together. Momma Said, “I’m as mad as hell and I think everyone should boycott these games.”
I know everyone has their right to free speech, but do not put it on display like this. If I were the police that work these games and keep peace at the stadiums, I would quit. I think this is playing right into the hands of the people who flew those planes into the Towers, the Pentagon and into the ground in Pennsylvania. We are falling apart as a nation and nobody seems to notice. I know everyone has a right to their own opinion, but I think this disrespect is going too far. I am sorry for the rant, but this country deserves better and I hate to see someone basically spitting on it.
