Momma Said, “Always go with what is in your gut and not your head.” Sometimes you get that feeling that says do something one way and you ignore it. Well, that is your first impression of a situation and that is usually the correct way to approach it. Many times I have second guessed myself only to end up with the wrong outcome. Always listen to your gut instinct.
I think it is hardwired into us when we are born, but we just don’t take advantage of it often enough. We get so comfortable in our daily routines that when we get a warning feeling about something we just shrug it off and ignore it. Stop and think, you know you have been in a situation when you just know something is not right. It is more than a feeling it is your mind picking up on subtle changes around you.
If you meet someone, and that feeling is there, do not ignore it. If something seems off don’t doubt yourself because you are probably right. It could be the way they act towards you or the way they look at you. I am a very bad person to go on first impressions of people. I have been right more often than not and it is something that I cannot ignore. Momma Said, “If the apple is rotten it usually has a worm inside.”
Always be aware of your surroundings and do not disregard that feeling of unease if you get it. Keep yourself safe and always remember to trust your gut.
Gooey Caramel Turtle Bark
Ingredients
1 (12 oz) bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (4.35 oz) bag Werther’s Soft Caramels, unwrapped
1 1/2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
Line a 15x10x1” cookie sheet with wax paper.
Pour chocolate chips into a medium-sized bowl and microwave for 45 seconds, stir, then return to the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir until completely melted and smooth (you may need to throw it back into the microwave for another 30 seconds- it really just depends on the strength of your microwave). Pour melted chocolate onto prepared sheet.
Using a flat spatula, spread chocolate out on wax paper until it’s about 1/4” thick.
Place unwrapped caramels and milk in a medium-sized bowl. Microwave for about 30 seconds, then remove and stir. Microwave again for 30 seconds, then stir until caramel is smooth and creamy (you may need to throw it back into the microwave for another 30 seconds so it can be super creamy).
Drizzle melted caramel over chocolate, then top with chopped pecans. If desired, drizzle with additional melted chocolate.
Place bark in the fridge for 30-45 minutes so that it can set up.
When it has hardened, remove from fridge and use a sharp knife to chop into large pieces (or you can use your hands to break it into small pieces).
