I have been scouring the internet for an all natural solution for an itchy dog. Abby has always had problems in the winter with itchy skin and I saw one that I may try. The recipe is ½ cup vinegar, ½ cup green tea and 1 cup distilled water. Mix solution and apply with a spray bottle. I want to give her a bath and then try this to see if it works. Momma Said, “Nothing worse than an itchy, scratchy long haired dog.”
Katie the cat also has had an adventure. She just had to go out and was gone for most of the day. I noticed the next day that she kept licking her hip. Well guess what? She had been bitten by another cat and it was already infected. That meant another trip to the vet where the doctor had to put a drain in to get rid of the infection.
Momma Said, “Take care of the fur babies because they are your responsibility.”
I keep up on all my pet’s vaccinations and it is good that I do. The vet told me that our area has had at least two confirmed cases of rabies. It is just irresponsible as a pet owner to not take care of the health of your animals. I believe in spaying and neutering to help control the amount of unwanted animals. They are not disposable and we, as a society, need to take action and help curb their increasing numbers.
I can’t believe the month of January is already half over. Momma Said, “Bring on Spring!” We haven’t had any significant snow fall so far and that is OK by me. I am glad we have not gotten what they have received farther to our north. Some places have had over seven feet of snowfall so far and winter isn’t even half over yet.
I have another easy sweet for you this week and it is scrumptious and super easy. Enjoy.
Graham Cracker Toffee
Ingredients
· 1 (14.4-ounce) box graham crackers
· 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
· 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
· 1 cup chopped pecans
· 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°. Line a jelly roll pan (10″x15″x1″) with aluminum foil. Place a single layer of graham crackers on the pan, covering it from edge to edge. You can break them up however you like. I break mine into halves, then some into quarters to fill the pan. I used about 12 whole crackers to fill my pan.
In a medium-size pot over medium high heat, combine the butter, brown sugar, and pecans. Heat until boiling, stirring constantly. Boil for 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla. Pour the mixture over the graham crackers.
Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool completely before breaking into pieces.
