I didn’t drop the ball, I missed it completely. Of course, I am talking about the New Year’s Eve Ball. I haven’t stayed up to see it come down for a long time. A new year comes along and it just means we are getting one year older. I do hope everyone out there has a wonderful and prosperous year. Momma Said, “If you made a New Year’s resolution, I hope it is one you can stick with and accomplish in the year to come.”
As I write this article I am looking out my office window and the snow is coming down in a white curtain. I feel for the people in the New England states because they have been having a very rough winter so far. Bundle up and keep warm, if you are an avid skier, this weather should be right up your alley. I think they could hold the Winter Olympics here because we certainly have had enough snow.
The dogs will be happy because they love to play in the snow. I have to keep the mop and a snow brush by the door. They have snowballs hanging in their long hair and covering their feet. Momma Said, “I guess snow is better than mud.”
I spent the holidays with good friends and had a great time. We had good food and great fellowship. It means the world to me to have such great and loyal friends. I love each and every one of them. I have a good and simple recipe for you this week and I hope you enjoy it. Momma Said, “Happy New Year to everyone.”
Italian Crescent Casserole
- 1 lb. ground beef, cooked and drained
- 1 cup basil and garlic tomato pasta sauce (from 16 oz. jar)
- 1 can (8oz.) refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 ½ cups shredded Italian cheese blend (6 oz.)
- ¼ tsp. dried basil
1. In a skillet, mix beef and pasta sauce. Heat to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
2. Separate dough into 8 triangles. Place dough in ungreased 9-inch glass pie plate in a spoke pattern, with narrow tips overlapping rim of plate about 3 inches. Press dough in side and bottom to form crust; sprinkle with 1 cup cheese. Spoon meat mixture evenly over cheese. Bring tips of dough over filling to meet in the center; do not overlap. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and the basil.
3. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
