Do kids still play outside? We were always outside doing something regardless of the weather. We built snow forts and had snowball fights, we played in mud puddles and was always finding something exciting to do. We played jacks, hop scotch, checkers and jump rope. I don’t think kids know what half those games are today. Momma Said, “It is sad to see little things like that go to the wayside.”
So many things are just not utilized anymore. It always has to be hooked to a computer or an app of some sort. Use your mind for some real thinking again. Take your kids out in the yard for a game of catch or even go for a walk in the woods. Take the dog to the park, go fishing or have a picnic. Momma Said, “Just get off your butts and do something.”
It is funny how in just a short time things can be so different. Time waits for no man and it seems as if it is slipping through my fingers at an alarming rate. It feels as if some things happened to me just days or weeks ago and I think back and realize it has been years. I look in the mirror and don’t recognize the person looking back.
I think I will take my own advise this time and go enjoy nature somewhere. I miss going to the woods with mom to dig ramps. Maybe Bailey and I will go in search of what is missing and take a trip to the mountain. Just take a minute out of your busy day, rest your eyes from the computer screen and look up. You are missing the best part of your day by not looking at the sky. Momma Said, “There is more up there than just clouds if you just look hard enough.”
