Momma Said for March 3, 2015

February is usually my worst month of the year, but this past month has flown by. It seems just yesterday we were celebrating New Year’s and now it will soon be the Ides of March. Momma Said, “I just hope we are lucky enough for March to come in like a lion so it will go out like a lamb.” I am so ready for Spring.

Last Winter as I sat at my desk working, I could see the front yard and it was always full of robins. That was the first year I ever remember seeing robins in Winter. This year I have not seen one yet. Momma Said, “I hope they return soon and bring good weather with them.”

The first week of March brings a little sorrow to me as well. The 3rd of March was my friend Dee Gee’s birthday and I sure do miss her. Friends may come and go, but good friends last a lifetime and then some. She was more like a sister than a friend and I won’t find another like her. I will not be able to look at a lily and not think of her. She had them planted all around her house and they were beautiful, just like her.

I am also proud to announce that my nephew and his wife had a beautiful baby girl on Feb. 19. Her name is Naomi Lynn and she looks just like my nephew. Her big sister, Laynee, is very proud of her, as am I. Mom would have been so happy to have another great grandchild.

In anticipation of Spring, I am giving you a recipe this week that even looks Springy. I hope you enjoy this one, but please don’t over indulge.

MOSCATO STRAWBERRY LEMONADE

1 bottle pink Moscato wine

6 cups lemonade

¼ cup strawberry vodka

Frozen strawberry slices

Lemon slices

Mix in large pitcher and serve over ice.
