This photo is a view of Jenningston, WV dated July 26, 1910 and stamped 6 p.m. Jenningston is one of those towns that sprang up around the timber industry and when the timber was gone the town dried up as well. This view shows the homes of the day, two stories with a single chimney in the center of the house. Of course wood was used as the source of heat. Some of these homes were torn down but many were destroyed by floods. In the center of the photo is a man and two children. In the white house directly behind them in the downstairs right window is a child sitting on the window ledge. Ideas or comments contact Tim Turner at 304-478-3389.
