This is a photo of the Dry Fork Lumber Companies Planing Mill in Laneville, WV. The Dry Fork Lumber Company operated in that area from 1905-1915. This company was a successor to the Wyoming Lumber Company. Laneville was quite a town, with a population of a little over 300 residence, for the time and was situated in a river basin. When the first mill shut down in 1915, the population began to decline. Two flash floods, one in 1954 and another in 1955 wiped everything out and the few remaining folks who could moved out of the area. Ideas or comments contact Tim Turner 304-478-3389.
