This photo is of the train engines of the Preston Railroad which ran from Crelin, MD to Leadmine, WV.
The railroad came down Horseshoe Run to the mouth of Maxwell Run with branches running up Maxwell Run and Hile Run. There was 13.3 miles of the railroad in Tucker County. The railroad was used for hauling logs to the Kendall Lumber Company sawmill at Crelin, MD. It operated about 20 years and closed when the Depression hit.
