This is a photo of the residence of (A. L.) Abraham Lincoln Helmick of Thomas. It was taken around 1907. The picture is not clear but he and one of the daughters is sitting on the right hand side of the porch. I am not sure if the one standing at the top of the stairs (in the middle of the photo) is the other daughter or their step-mother. He was born in 1863 in Pendleton County and died in 1945 in Elkins. He was married to Catherine “ Kate” Flynn on May 17, 1890. She passed away in 1902 leaving him with two daughters, Mary C. and Margaret Marie. In 1905, he married Frances “Fannie” Liller. Mr. A. L. Hemick served as Postmaster at Thomas, was elected as a Tucker County Commissioner in 1899, and served as Tucker County Sheriff in 1904. He was also elected and served 24 years as a State Senator.
