This is a photo of Selena “Maxine” Wolford Harper.

Maxine was the daughter of Hayes and Alma Huffman Wolford. Hayes was a grandson of Samuel and Elizabeth Wimer Cooper, a founding family of the Flanagan Hill area.  Maxine was married to the late Harry Harper; who lost his life in the flood of 1985. Together they worked an managed a family farm; currently worked by their daughter, Eleanor (Ford) Nestor and son, Wayne (Margaret) Harper. Maxine was the first female bus driver for Tucker County Schools. She took over her husband’s bus run when he had a medical procedure in 1968; continuing until her retirement in 1987.  Ideas or comments contact Tim Turner (304) 478-3389.
