Last week’s photo was of The Mountain View Hotel in Thomas. The hotel opened in 1903 on Spruce Street.
In 1906 the proprietor, J. B. Murray advertised first class rooms in all its appointments for $2.00 a day. The business must have been a family affair as the sign on the top of the building reads Murray Bros. There is a correction to the date that the “old” Thomas Depot was completed; it was December 1889. This means that Thomas operated 5 years without a depot. This week’s photo is of a Hamrick Family and they may have connections back to Harman but I am not certain. Ideas or comments contact Tim Turner (304) 478-3389.
