ELKINS, WV – The Davis Health System Foundation is currently taking applications from high school seniors for two scholarships which will be awarded in the spring of 2015.

The Dr. Mason Todd Corder Memorial Scholarship is available for students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. The scholarship of $500 is granted to a student who is entering a two or four-year college program, or who is pursuing a certification in the healthcare field.

New for 2015 is the Linda Davis Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was established in memory of Linda Davis who was an employee of Davis Medical Center (DMC) and also coached the Elkins High School cheerleading squad.

“Linda made a positive difference in the lives of many including the students she coached,” said co-worker Katrina “Cricket” Leary. “This scholarship helps us honor her memory while creating a meaningful opportunity for a local student.” The funds for the scholarship were raised by Davis’ co-workers at DMC.

The Davis Scholarship requires that the student be from Randolph County and have been involved in cheerleading during the 2014-2015 year.

The Corder Scholarship was founded in memory of Dr. Mason “Todd” Corder. Corder was a member of the Davis Health System medical staff and was devoted to helping those interested in a healthcare career.

“We’re pleased to offer not one, but two student scholarships in 2015,” said Foundation Scholarship Committee Chair Ce Ce Wallace. “An important part of the Foundation’s mission is ensuring the future of healthcare. What better way to do that than to support our future caregivers in their personal pursuit of higher education and learning.”

To apply for either scholarship, students can download an application on the Foundation’s website at www.dhsfoundation.com or call the Foundation at 304.630.3043. Scholarship winners will be announced in May, 2015.

The deadline to apply for both the Corder and the Davis scholarships is March 31, 2015.

The Corder Scholarship is funded through the Foundation by a number of generous supporters. For information on how to donate to this scholarship fund contact Jennie Raines or Dan Bucher at 304.630.3043.
