HAMBLETON – The 2017 Tucker County High School began their annual flower and vegetable plant sale Monday. Hours for the sale are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
FFA Advisor Terry Hauser said there are nearly 50,000 plants to choose from including alyssum, ageratum, begonia, bacopa, calibrachoa, celosia, dahlia, dianthus, dichondra, dusty miller, impatient, lobelia, marigold, pansy, petunia, phlox, snapdragon, zinnia, vinca and viola.
Vegetable plants include four different kinds of cabbage, 18 kinds of peppers, 27 varieties of tomatoes, sweet basil, dill fern leaf, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, eggplant, cucumbers squash and zucchini. The group is also selling strawberry plants.
A six-pack of plants is between $2 and $2.25. Hanging baskets are $8 and decorative chair planters are $15.
Hauser said this is a big fundraiser for the FFA and said he hopes folks will stop by and help support the group.
