GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Students at New River Career and Technical Center (New River CTC) will now have a clearer path to earning a four-year degree thanks to a new transfer agreement signed with Glenville State University (GSU). Dr. Mark A. Manchin, President of Glenville State University, along with GSU Provost, Dr. Mari Clements traveled to New River CTC to meet with President, Dr. Bonny Copenhaver, and Cabinet to sign the agreement and celebrate this collaboration.

The agreement guarantees admission to GSU for New River graduates with associate degrees and ensures that credits earned at New River will transfer smoothly into bachelor’s degree programs at Glenville State University. The result is a seamless transition that saves students both time and money as they work toward their academic and career goals.

“This articulation agreement is a wonderful collaboration between Glenville State University and New River Career and Technical Center that will ensure that New River graduates have a smooth transition into a four-year degree program and that Glenville State will have applicants for our programs who have already demonstrated that they can succeed at the college level,” said Dr. Mari Clements, Provost at GSU. “This partnership is about opening doors and giving students peace of mind. “They can move forward knowing that their credits will count, their efforts will matter, and their future is within reach,” Clements added.

GSU President Dr. Mark A. Manchin added, “Preparing the young men and women of West Virginia for success happens when we collaborate with strong partners. This agreement with New River CTC is another example of how working together ensures that our students are given every opportunity to achieve their goals.”

New River CTC President, Dr. Bonny Copenhaver, emphasized the close connection between the two institutions, saying, “New River and Glenville State have a longstanding relationship and a special bond that continues to benefit students across our region,” Boney stated. “By working with our sister institution, we’re expanding opportunities across the state and strengthening the higher education pipeline for West Virginia students.”

The agreement also strengthens advising and support services, helping students stay on track from the moment they enroll at New River through the completion of their bachelor’s degree at Glenville State University.
