Taylor McKinnie, daughter of Kevin and Shelly McKinnie, Elkins, WV, granddaughter of Foster and Delain Mullenax, has been accepted to the George Washington University in Washington, DC for the fall semester. She will be majoring in journalism with a minor in political science. Taylor graduated in the top ten of her class from Elkins High School this spring. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the International Thespian Society, where she served as secretary, and the German Honor Society. Taylor has been an active leader in the Randolph County 4-H program, a dancer at Center Stage Studio of Dance, and an apprentice in the Old Brick Playhouse for most of her life as well as being a performer on the Polar Express in Elkins. She has been knighted as a recipient of the West Virginia Golden Horseshoe, was honored to receive the Center Stage Taitlyn Hughes Award, Randolph County Outstanding 4-H’er and the “I Dare You” award, along with her 4-H Charting Pin, and was chosen to attend West Virginia Rhododendron Girls State, West Virginia Youth in Government Conference, Citizenship Washington Focus, and the Journalism School & Media Conference in Washington, DC. Taylor has been awarded scholarships from the Elkins High School National Honor Society, the Promise Scholarship, The Women of the First United Methodist Church, Elkins, and the George Washington University and Alumni Award.
