Tucker Community Foundation’s 2017 scholarship cycle is underway for traditional and non-traditional students from Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker counties in West Virginia, and Garrett County, Maryland.

More than $60,000 will be awarded from endowed scholarship funds, pass-through donations, and unrestricted income of the Foundation. Applicants are encouraged to apply even if their educational needs do not align with a particular fund. Awards will range from $500 to $10,000, with most in the $1,000 range.
New this year, the Foundation will be awarding a $10,000 Smith and Patterson Pass-Through Scholarship. The award is intended for a student enrolling in post-secondary education or a trade school. Good grades are important but not the only criteria; work experience or volunteer experience is considered, and financial need is a consideration.
The Ryan Patrick Gosa Fund supports educational opportunities in the Liberal Arts for Tucker County. Journalism, Communications and Public Relations, English, History, Humanities, Languages, Literature and Writing, Philosophy and Ethics – these are just some of the fields of study that could qualify students.
Randolph County Vo-tech students are encouraged to apply for the Mark Hutchison / David Cosner Scholarship. Candidates should demonstrate the qualities valued by the Marines and the Navy: respect, discipline, honor, responsibility, commitment, and service to others.
Postgraduate[ college students from Tucker, Preston or Garrett County who are pursuing a masters, doctorate or professional degree are eligible for a Crimson Shamrock Scholarship.
The Gary Wilson Fund provides a scholarship for Tucker County students attending a Christian elementary, middle or high school, or who are being home schooled employing Christian educational principles and values.
A $500 White Grass Culinary Scholarship is available for students from any West Virginia county who are pursuingculinary arts education.
High school seniors, college students, students attending technical schools and other non-traditional students (e.g., adults returning to school) are encouraged to apply for a Tucker Community Foundation scholarship regardless of their field of study.
To download an application, visit www.tuckerfoundation.net/scholarships. Applications are also available at the Foundation offices located in the Board of Education Annex at 100 Education Lane, Parsons; and 737 William Ave, Suite 1, in Davis. High School guidance counselors in the Foundation’s service area have applications for distribution. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 7 (postmark).
