Each year, tourism industry professionals from all over the Southeast meet at University of North Georgia for the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) Marketing College. During the week, students experience a broad-based curriculum of courses designed to teach marketing techniques from all facets of the tourism industry. Marketing College professors are working, experienced professionals from across the U.S. who not only bring expertise, but real-world knowledge and experience, to the classroom. The Southeast Tourism Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and development of tourism throughout the Southeast. STS had eight member states when founded in 1983 (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee). Since then, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia and Arkansas were added.
“Marketing College was a great opportunity to not only learn from the experts in the travel marketing industry, but to network with the other students and learn from them as well” said Scowcroft. “It’s important to know current travel trends and marketing techniques to be able to efficiently target prospective visitors to Tucker County”
The Tucker County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is the official Destination Marketing Organization of Tucker County striving to support the tourism industry in the county to further enhance the economy.
