The Davis Thomas Bears boys basketball team sent their 2026 season out with a bang, earning two big wins and suffering a near miss.

DT got the week started with a big win over Bruceton Middle. The Bears held a 12–8 lead after the first quarter and a 27–19 lead at the break. Bruceton made a run in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 35–31. Bruceton continued its run, but DT hung on for the 44–42 victory. Kevin Kerr led the Bears with 12 points, while Elijah O’Brien and Jarrett Dearborn added 10 points each.

Later in the week, DT took on the Harman Panthers. This game was never close, as DT rolled to a lopsided 61–22 victory. The Bears placed three players in double figures, with O’Brien joined by Noah White and Elliot Baker, all scoring 10 points.

Davis Thomas ended its week, and season, hosting a very tough Marlinton Middle squad. The Bears found themselves down 18–6 and trailed 29–20 at halftime. DT made a run in the third quarter, outscoring Marlinton 13–7 and cutting the lead to just three at 36–33. That three-point margin would ultimately be the difference, as DT fought hard but fell to Marlinton 47–44.

Kerr led the Bears with 16 points, followed closely by O’Brien with 15. Dearborn rounded out the top three scorers with eight points.

The game marked the end of the Bears’ season, as they finished 2026 with a final record of 8–14.
