Eighth-grade running back Titus Bowley led the way for the Tucker Valley football team this past Wednesday in Mill Creek. The Wildcats started the game just as they had in their previous two matchups, with a touchdown drive on their opening possession. Bowley scored from 13 yards out, giving the Wildcats an early 6-0 lead.
Tucker’s defense held the Bulldogs and quickly got the ball back. Seventh-grade running back Fletcher Hyre broke off a 39-yard run to set up another score by Bowley, this time via a 6 yard tote. Tucker’s defense continued to stifle Tygarts Valley, giving the ball back to their potent offense. Once again, Bowley found the end zone, this time plunging it in from the two yard line. Asher Kisamore added the two-point conversion, and Tucker extended their lead to 20-0.
The Wildcats’ defense then forced a turnover, setting up the offense in plus territory. Bowley broke another long run of 22 yards to score, giving Tucker a commanding 26-0 lead. The Bulldogs showed signs of life on the ensuing kickoff, returning it for a touchdown to make the score 26-6.
The Wildcats had a quick response. On the very next kickoff, Bowley returned it 57 yards for his fifth touchdown of the first half. Tucker took a 34-6 lead into halftime.
Tucker extended their lead to 40-6 when Asher Kisamore powered his way in for a 23-yard touchdown run. The Wildcats found the end zone one more time before the final whistle, as quarterback Rylan Sexton connected with his big receiver Legend Harper for an 11-yard touchdown, pushing the lead to 48-6.
The Bulldogs managed to score on a long touchdown pass a few plays later, after the game’s outcome had already been decided, making the final score 48-12.
Bowley ended the night with 121 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, and one kickoff return touchdown. Fletcher Hyre finished with 92 rushing yards. Rylan Sexton added 44 passing yards and one touchdown through the air to Legend Harper, who recorded two catches for 44 yards.
Tucker remains undefeated and improves to 3-0 on the young season. The Wildcats will return home on Thursday, September 25th at 6:00 p.m. as they host the Webster County Highlanders.
