The fall sports season is officially underway, and the Davis Thomas Bears Golf team kicked things off high atop Fisher Mountain this past week in their season-opening tri-match.
The Bears, a combined team featuring golfers from both Davis Thomas and Tucker Valley Middle Schools, fielded a six-player roster for their first outing. Competing against Pendleton County and Petersburg Middle Schools, the squad faced a strong field in their debut.
Petersburg took home top honors in the match, with the top two individual scores posted by Viking golfers. However, the Bears had a solid showing of their own, placing two golfers in the top five overall. Nolan Luzier led the way for Davis Thomas with a 4th place finish, followed closely by Jarrett Dearborn in 5th.
The young team showed promise and composure in their first match and will look to build on that momentum as the season progresses.
The Bears will be back in the tee box on Monday, August 12th, as they travel to Valley View Golf Course in Moorefield, WV. Tee time is set for 4:00 PM.
