The Tucker County High School Cheerleaders competed in the Division II Regional Cheer Competition on November 9, 2024, at Lincoln High School in Shinnston, WV. For their competition, they were required to perform a technical cheer that had to be under 40 seconds and a routine in which had to be mastered within two minutes and 30 seconds. The cheer and routine performed had to contain a variety of skills including tumbling, stunts and enthusiasm with minimal to no mistakes. The many three-hour long practices since the beginning of August (some including weekends), exhaustion, and dedication, paid off for the TCHS cheer squad, as they mastered both requirements and earned second place overall. With this significant and challenging accomplishment, it qualified them for the West Virginia State Competition. This is only the third time in school history for this to happen. The first being in 2014, and the second the following year in 2015, when the squad won regionals under coach Amber Kyle. The state competition will be held on December 14, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, WV. The 2024 TCHS Cheer Squad is coached by Kristen Pennington & Jordan Teter.
