Lady Mt. Lions Get Trio of Wins Including a Tournament Title

Mt. Storm Holiday Classic Tournament Champs

The Lady Mt. Lions secured a 54–43 victory over Petersburg on Tuesday night.
Mt. Lions set the tone early, jumping out to a 19–11 lead after the first quarter behind aggressive defense and efficient scoring. The momentum continued into the second period as the Lions extended their advantage to 33–18 at halftime, limiting Petersburg’s offensive opportunities and controlling the boards.
The Vikings responded after the break, cutting into the deficit during a strong third-quarter surge. The Lady Lions still held a 41–33 lead heading into the final quarter, but the game remained within reach.
In the closing minutes, Mt. Lions regained control with timely baskets and defensive stops, outscoring Petersburg to seal the 54–43 win.

The Tucker Lady Mt. Lions put together a dominant two-day performance to capture the Mt. Storm Holiday Classic championship, going undefeated on their home floor with convincing wins over Clay County on Friday evening and Northern Garrett on Saturday afternoon.
In the opening round on Friday, Tucker set the tone early against Clay County. The Lady Lions jumped out to a commanding 27–5 lead after the first quarter, fueled by aggressive defense and fast-paced offense. By halftime, Tucker had stretched the margin to 35–5, allowing just five points through the first two quarters.
The momentum continued after the break as the Lady Mt. Lions pushed the lead to 52–13 at the end of the third quarter before closing out a 65–18 victory.

Saturday afternoon’s championship game against Northern Garrett brought a tougher challenge, but the Lady Lions rose to the occasion. Tucker led 15–7 after the first quarter and carried a 30–16 advantage into halftime, keeping Northern Garrett at bay with disciplined defense and steady scoring.
The Lady Mt. Lions pulled away in the second half, extending the lead to 46–22 after three quarters. Tucker sealed the Mt. Storm Holiday Classic title with a strong final period, earning a 62–37 championship victory.

Hosting the Mt. Storm Holiday Classic and claiming the tournament crown marked an impressive weekend for the Lady Mt. Lions. Makenna Evans and Addi Moats earned All-Tournament Honors. The team will be back in action on December 30 at the Summersville Tournament.
