HUTTONSVILLE – The Tucker County Softball traveled to Tygarts Valley for one game on Tuesday April 9th.
The Lady Mt. Lions got the road win by the final score of 15-3.
Tucker County led 10-1 after 2 innings and Lady Mt. Lions added 5 more runs in the 3rd inning. The game then ended after 3 innings due to the mercy rule.
Cheyenne Gooden had 3 RBI’s for Tucker County. Kristen Hicks and Gracie Rapp had 2 hits each, while Gracie Filler, Anna DiBacco, Hailey Tuttle and Aliyah Plum collected 1 hit each in the victory.
Kristen Hicks earned the win for Tucker County on the mound as she ended the game with 4 strikeouts.
ELKINS – The Lady Mt. Lions went traveled to Elkins on Wednesday April 10th for one game against the Lady Tigers. Elkins picked up the 12-1 win in the contest.
Elkins scored 10 runs in the 1st inning to take control of the game and never look back. The Lady Mt. Lions only run came in the top of the 3rd inning when McKinley Murphy reached and scored on a pair of Elkins errors. Gracie Filler lead off single in the 1st inning was the lone hit for the Lady Mt. Lions. Kristen Hicks took the loss on the mound for Tucker County.
DUNMORE – Tucker County took to the road again on Thursday April 11th for a doubleheader at Pocahontas County. The Lady Mt. Lions got the offense going early and took won both contest by the final score of 25-8 and 14-0.
In Game 1 Tucker County led after one inning 5-4. The Lady Mt. Lions then got the scoring going again in the 4th inning as they exploded for a 20-run inning to put the game out of reach as they cruised from there to get the Game 1 win by the final score of 25-8. Tucker County combined for 19 hits and 15 stolen bases. Anna DiBacco registered a 2-run homerun in the game along with a triple by Haley Tuttle. McKinley Murphy, Erin Cassidy and Lauren Cockerham had one double each to help lead Tucker County. The following players also registered hits in the Game 1 win for Tucker County: Gracie Rapp, Kristen Hicks, Cheyenne Gooden and Gracie Filler. Hicks picked up the win in Game 1 for the Tucker County.
In Game 2 the bats for the Lady Mt. Lions were still alive. Tucker County raced out to a 7-0 lead after one inning of play. The Lady Mt. Lions added more runs in the 2nd inning to cruise to the win in 3 innings by the final score of 14-0. Anna DiBacco led Tucker County with a triple and the following players added base hits: Lauren Cockerham, Gracie Rapp, Haley Tuttle, Gracie Filler, Erin Cassidy and Cheyenne Gooden. Lauren Cockerham was on the mound for the Lady Mt. Lions and picked up the win as Tucker County earned the doubleheader sweep.
CLARKSBURG – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Liberty Harrison on Saturday April 13th for a one game contest. Tucker County fought hard, but the team came up short by the final score of 17-6.
Liberty started off with active bats as they led after 2 innings 5-0. The Lady Mt. Lions would fight back in the 3rd inning to tie the score going into the 4th inning. The Lady Mountaineers then got their offense going in the bottom of the 4th as they exploded for 10 runs in the inning to end the contest by the final score of 17-6. Tucker County was led by the following players at the plate: Anna DiBacco(triple), Cheyenne Gooden(double), Murphy(2 singles), Lauren Cockerham(single), Haley Tuttle(single), Erin Cassidy(single), Kristen Hicks(single) and Gracie Rapp(single). Cockerham suffered the loss for Tucker County in the game.
Tucker County will return to action on Thursday April 18th at East Hardy for a 4:30pm contest. The Lady Mt. Lions will then host Preston for a doubleheader on Monday April 22nd with the first game starting at 5pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
