LADY MT. LIONS GET WINS OVER PENDLETON AND EAST HARDY

FRANKLIN – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team traveled to Pendleton County for their first road game of the season on Tuesday December 5th.  The Lady Mt. Lions started fast, built a quick lead and then cruised to a 77-28 victory.

In the first quarter the Tucker County pressure defense created an advantage as the Lady Mt. Lions led after one quarter 24-8.  The second quarter would not get better for the Lady Wildcats as Tucker County outscored Pendleton County 18-5 to make the halftime score 42-13.

After halftime the visiting Lady Mt. Lions picked up where they left off as they built on their lead with a 20-10 advantage in the third to make the score 62-23 after three quarters.  In the fourth quarter Tucker County held Pendleton County to 5 points and the visitors scored 15 points to give the Lady Mt. Lions the win by the final score of 77-28.

Brylee Wetzel led Tucker County with 16 points after connecting on 5 three point field goals.  Ericka Zirk had 13 points and Mayah Gross added 12 points off the bench for the Lady Mt. Lions.  Addie Hicks chipped in with 8 points and Macy Helmick added 7 points, 6 assists.  Katie Hicks also dished out 6 assists for Tucker County in the win.

 

HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions hosted East Hardy on Friday December 8th for a varsity only contest.  Tucker County jumped out to a 13 point lead after one quarter and then ran away from the Lady Cougars to win the contest 69-28.

The first quarter belonged to the Lady Mt. Lions as their defense held East Hardy to just 5 points to lead after one 18-5.  In the second quarter Tucker County continued to pull away as the home team outscored East Hardy 18-8 to make the halftime score 36-13.

The third quarter was controlled by Tucker County as their defense held the Lady Cougars to 5 points.  The Lady Mt. Lions score 16 points in the third to put the score to 52-18 after three.  Tucker County would win the fourth quarter 17-10 to take the home victory by the score of 69-28.

Addie Hicks led the Lady Mt. Lions in scoring with 15 points and Macy Helmick added 12 points in the win.  Raven Matthews had 9 points and 10 rebounds for Tucker County.  Brylee Wetzel and Ericka Zirk chipped in with 8 points each on the night for the Lady Mt. Lions.

 

Tucker County(3-0) will return to action tonight Wednesday December 13th at Union for a varsity only contest for a 6:30pm start in Mt. Storm.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
